Please tell us about promotion possibilities and fill us in on what it takes to move up the ranks.
I have only recently started with the department so have not yet had the opportunity to move up the ranks. However, from what I have heard from others career promotion is encouraged and progression opportunities are provided.

There are no promotions, A position must become vacant then you can apply for it. Career progression is generally pretty good.

Plenty of opportunity to move around the department including higher roles.

Promotion in a government department is progressive and depends highly on postgraduate qualifications. For example, I am able to progress to higher Specified Calling (SC) Levels naturally by acquiring years of experience. However, I can undertake a Masters, Doctoral or PHD qualification to attract higher positions and greater salaries in the long-term.

There are lots of opportunities to act in higher roles and do internal secondments to help you upskill and gain experience for promotions.
