The MDBA's graduate program consists of on-the-job training and ongoing learning and development opportunities designed to lay a solid foundation for a graduate's career.
During an 11 month program, graduates get to try 3 jobs on for size, staying with each team for just under 4 months. Each work area will provide graduates with varied opportunities for on the job training.

Graduates will also be exposed to a variety of internal seminars and events relating to the MDBA's core business and will participate in training that will provide an understanding of the public sector and build a foundation for development as a future APS manager and leader.
Graduate positions will be based at one of the MDBA's office locations, including Adelaide, Albury-Wodonga, Canberra, Goondiwindi, Griffith, Mildura, Murray Bridge and Toowoomba. Priority placements will be made at Goondiwindi, Griffith and Mildura.

Once graduates successfully complete the program, they will move into a permanent position with a higher salary. Graduates also have an opportunity at the end of the program to be assessed for a move to the APS 5 level (subject to work availability).
