Aidan

If you’re curious, determined and passionate about making a difference, DFAT is an excellent place to start your career.

Graduating with a Bachelor of Laws, Aidan wanted to learn more about government, foreign affairs, and the global community.

“The work I’ve done at DFAT since joining the graduate program has been varied and interesting and I’ve had great support from my colleagues and supervisors,” Aidan said.

“Working on the Southern Africa desk, I learnt about how Australia advances its interests around the world. I collaborated with the diplomatic community here in Canberra and with our network of overseas posts, to help Australian companies access opportunities in Africa.”

Building on this experience, Aidan, like many of his graduate colleagues, also gained insight into Australia’s role in protecting Australians overseas and supported our consular response to both the Afghanistan and Ukraine crises.

“Overall, my first year in the graduate program flew by and I can say with certainty I’ve learnt more than I ever expected I would.

“If you’re curious, determined and passionate about making a difference, DFAT is an excellent place to start your career,” Aidan said.
