What's your job about?
CSC looks after the superannuation of Australian government employees and Australian Defence Force members. I, as a CSC grad, am rotating in different business areas to undertake day-to-day business operations tasks and projects. All my teams and I are endeavouring to deliver better customer and business outcomes.
For example, in my first rotation, I worked closely with the Learning and Development Business Partner to design e-learning and training for internal CSC staff. To uphold that ‘customer is at the heart of what we do’, we need to cultivate a customer-centric culture, upskill and reskill our talents to keep up with the evolving business environment and the digital transformation. It’s lucky to work in a company that has good culture in which it enables everyone to thrive together.
What's your background?
I’ve been living in Canberra for eight years. Studies used to be my life priority. I enjoyed being a student... If I’m being honest, perhaps I wasn’t mentally ready to grow up into mature adults by joining the workforce. So I decided to sustain my adolescence by living in the Academia ivory towers, where I studied linguistics, translation & interpreting, as well as teaching.
Knowing CSC grad program from ‘Tertiary to work’ career fair event is a life turning point. It was unexpected for me to work in a financial company although I’ve been developing my interest in the financial industry outside of Uni.
Finally, my dream of working in a big company has come true. God favours the diligent and he writes beautiful stories. In my final semester, I sent out only one job application, yes, that was to CSC and now I’ve been working here for 7 months! Here’s my top secret - you can do it if you believe you can.
Could someone with a different background do your job?
I’d say yes to this question. A finance degree and working experience aren't prerequisites for this grad role, however, the knowledge and skills that we've learnt from Uni can be transferrable to make a difference in the working environment. Personally, I believe all your past experiences have helped shape you as an individual. A passion for working with people is essential. A desire to embrace change is paramount. Professionally, it's non-negotiable to develop your active learning skills, communication skills and problem-solving skills etc. On top of all this, not only do we need to work hard, but work smart!!
What's the coolest thing about your job?
Our people here at CSC. Absolute joy when I’m working with like-minded people, listening to different opinions, most importantly, learning from some great leaders and mentors… It’s been a great choice to join CSC!

What are the limitations of your job?
Find yourself a balance! Although CSC offers good work-life balance opportunities, you are essentially the one to look after yourself. This means if you're a workaholic like me, be mindful that you need to switch off after normal working hours.
If you’re those who always dream big, (yes, like me again), don’t expect you’ll find highlights of office life each day. Office days are normal life, but you can still be a hero… in some way!
3 pieces of advice for yourself when you were a student...
I had a fantastic time at Uni. No regrets. So I’d say to her “thank you for being yourself, thank you for loving the world, thank you for always being so grateful for your life, thank you for not sacrificing sleep for study”. Ahh, but if you can, travel more, join more exchange programs or even create a startup!
